FIBank D350,000:00 Sponsor Zonal football will kick off on the 8th October 2016

One of Gambia’s most prestigious financial institutions FIBank has agreed into partnership with the Gambia Football Federation to exclusively sponsor the forth ...coming Super Nawettan Football tournament 2016. The bank and the GFF has further renewed their commitment for the commercial bank to continue bankrolling the zonal tournament for the next three editions ahead.

 

 

This development was finally agreed at a meeting between the GFF and the FIBank on Thursday 29th September at the bank Head Office along Kairaba Avenue.

 

 

As part of the package, the FIBank will give out D350,000:00 out of which D75,000:00 will be rewarded for the Champions and D50,000:00 for the Runners Up. All the participating zones would be provided set of jerseys and preparatory costs amongst others ahead of the tournament kick off.

 

 

The Thursday meeting was attended by Senior officials of GFF headed by 2nd Vice President Ebou Faye and FIBank Senior Management team headed by Pa Ousman Njie.

 

 

The tournament would kick off on the 8th October and would run within a three weeks period at five designated playing grounds viz: Banjul, Brikama, Manjai, Sere Kunda East and Sere Kunda West while Independence Stadium in Bakau will host the semi finals and final match respectively. The zonal football jamboree henceforth would be called FIBank Super Nawettan Tournament 2016.

 

 

The Gambia Football Federation ( GFF ) on Tuesday 27th September met and discussed with FIBank, sponsors for the Super Nawettan tournament ahead of the kick off slated for October.

 


The GFF Team was led by 2nd Vice President Ebou Faye who reminded the bank about their earlier commitment to partner with the GFF for the next three editions of the tournament. Mr Faye first thanked the Bank for fulfil...ling their commitment during last year tourney and envisaged that the institution would again live up to expectation.

 


FIBank officials headed by Mr Njie also thanked the GFF for trusting them sponsor what they refereed as the most lucrative football tournament.

 


Meanwhile the draw for the tournament was held on Tuesday 27th September at the GFF Secretariat in Kanifing presided over by Super Nawettan Committee Chairman Ba S Jabbie.

 


In Group A, Champions Sere Kunda West will be joined by Sere Kunda Central, Lamin, Brikama, BEM and Manjai while Group B will take to Runners Up Sukuta, Sere Kunda East, Brufut, Bakau, Gunjur and Banjul.

 


The tournament will kick off on the 8th October and will be played in Six designated playing venues. Viz: Banjul, Brikama, Sere Kunda East, Sere Kunda West, Manjai and Independence Stadium. The Super Nawettan Committee Chairman Ba S Jabbie revealed that the tournament semi finals and final would be staged at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Mr Jabbie further informed the Press that third and fourth place finals would also be staged this year. ‘ This is a new inclusion meant to encourage participation and engender competition’.
