LIFE CLAIMS AFTER GUNJUR, SERRE-KUNDA EAST STALEMATE


12th October, 2016 It has been a moment of euphoria for Gunjur fans on their way home after a one all draw in the Zonal football match with Serre-kunda East in FIBank Super Nawetan, until when news broke that Bekai Janneh a Gunjur fan has lost his life in an accident on the way. The accident happen at Kitty village few kilometres from Boxbar mini-stadium where the game was played. It involves one Bekai Janneh a fan and Mutarr Baldeh a driver both of who were on their way from watching the football game. According to eye witnesses, the accident happen when Bekai who was riding on a bicycle with three other friends all riding, try to divert a vehicle standing infront on the road side and unfortunately get knock down. The eye witness stated: the accident was meant to be, but, if not the efforts the driver make, he would have been able to avoid it. He added: Bekai was on the right side of the road with his friends and he tries to divert all of them on the left side, then the vehicle was too close on the over-taking lane. The driver try very hard to the extent of having two of his tyres flat at the spot but could not dive him. Janneh is a grade ten (10) student at Sifo Senior Secondary School. He closed from school and proceed to Brikama with his bicycle to witness the encounter. But so sad and unfortunate, could not reach back home alive. This was a sad moment for the entire community as the boy lost his life while on the course of showing his love and support to his beloved town. By Famara Badjie
